It happens all too often. You are driving down the road, minding your own business, and a dump truck or a truck pulling a backhoe on a trailer passes you, then gets in front of you. That one pebble falls out and bounces down the road until it hits your windshield. Most of the time it starts out as a small chip. If left alone, it will probably start to crack. Once it starts, it usually will run all the way across the windshield leaving you with no choice but to replace it.

In many cases, the chip can be repaired. There are DIY repair kits out there that allow you to repair your own windshield. I have personally used one such kit made by Permatex. The cost is under $ 12.00, and all you have to do is follow the detailed instructions exactly, and in 20 minutes or so your windshield will be good as new. The kits can be purchased at just about any auto parts store.

This is a very inexpensive alternative to having a professional do the same basic thing. The most important thing is to catch it early because if you have a chip on your windshield and hit a pothole or bump in the road, the jarring impact is usually what makes the chip turn into a crack and start to run. Permatex is a brand name well known in the automotive industry, and makes high quality products such as sealers adhesives, thread locking compounds just to name a few. Permatex also makes a complete adhesive kit to reattach your rearview mirror to the windshield. On older vehicles, the rearview mirror adhesive will weaken due to years of heat from the sun, and stress from different drivers adjusting the mirror, causing it to fall off the windshield. Hopefully these tips will save you time and money allowing you to take charge and do your own windshield repairs.

Tyres are the main component of the car, which gives the performance, pace, safety and style to it. There are various types of tyres with different specifications, size and designs. The quality of car’s tyres is measured on the three basis factors: durability, friction and gripping strength. For day-to-day works you need to drive the car and look for less noise creating, rough & tough tyres that have great grip even on muddy roads. There are five types of car tyres: Standard or All Season Tyres, Performance Tyres, Winter Tyres, All Terrain Tyres and Run Flat Tyres. Standard or All season Tyres are made-up of harder material that extend their life. These are designed on tread block pattern that produces minimum noise on standard roads. All season tyres are perfectly works in summer and rainy season however, you need to compromise on handling and cornering part.

Performance tyres have soft rubber as the manufacturing material, which provide excellent girp on the roads in the dry and rainy season. Though, their life is shorter than the Standard tyres but these are right option for those who want speed and great handling performance with their car. Winter tyres have been designed with large tread block pattern and can have embedded small metal studs in tread that offer better gripping in winter season. You will enjoy driving your car even in snow and ice with perfect handling. But, Winter tyres are not compatible for all year round because these get damage in extreme dry conditions. Whereas, All terrain tyres generally used in off road vehicles because these are very noisy by nature. But, have unmatched gripping on loose surfaces like sand and dirt with its large tread block pattern.

Run Flat Tyres makes your car able to run without air for short distance at low speed. However, these are innovative and fresh idea but now commonly used in new car editions. With these tyres you will find smart handling even when they get punctured. More information is available on http://www.naaptol.com which is a rich online market where you will find excellent products from different brands and profitable deals with attractive discounts.

The common error that car dealers make when choosing their supplies is they tend to purchase aesthetic items which temporarily make their cars more appealing when they should be buying accessories which spread their company’s message with a lot more enduring effect. If these dealers can refocus their supplies spending to distribute their brand’s message, they can produce more business from their current customers and discover new customers in their community. The secret is to purchase supplies with a longer shelf-life. But they need to allocate a larger portion of their supplies allowance to purchasing items that may more permanently brand their car dealership with their existing customers and produce more recurring sales and referrals.

Service reminder stickers are a wonderful example of a lasting purchase. Such decals must have your (blank) contact details. Simple stickers don’t develop loyalty. They simply persuade your client to get their vehicle maintained at the nearest and least expensive service shop.

License plate frames must be developed and chosen with some forethought. Highlight your internet site more prominently than your phone number. Your internet site is simpler to remember at a glance. Insert your website address clearly at the bottom of your plate frames. If your company’s company name is uncommonly long, reduce it to some thing memorable and place this name at the top of your plate. Plate frames get a lot of daily views from prospective customers. And over the lifetime of the vehicle, which may be around 12 years, you might receive seven thousand impressions for your company. So, it’s obviously crucial that this be designed correctly from the start.

There’s a lot of marketing opportunity on other locations of your customers’ cars. The trunk area is a prime spot to fit a decal with you company’s name. It’s normal for many customers to ask that the decal be taken off. But, you may be surprised by how many are happy to leave it on their car, especially if they felt they received great service when they bought their car. The stickers often get far more attention than plate frames, which can be entirely common. Vinyl graphics present you with the opportunity to send out a secondary message that doesn’t fit on plate frames.

So when you set a plan for marketing materials, be sure that a minimum of 50% of those items will have a significantly longer life than flags, balloons, and other temporary items. Invest for the long term, and you will be given long-term returns.

Transmission repair is something most car owners dread because it is expensive and it could take awhile to get it fixed. But exactly why is transmission repair so tasking for auto repair shops?

In order to understand why transmission repairs cost as much as they do, and why repairing it takes as long as it does, we need to first know how it works.

Cars need transmissions because of the physics of the gasoline engine. First, all engines have a redline-the maximum rpm value above which the engine cannot go without exploding. Second, engines have narrow rpm ranges where horsepower and torque are at their maximum. For example, an engine might produce its maximum horsepower at 5,500 rpm. The transmission allows the gear ratio between the engine and the drive wheels to change as the car speeds up and slows down. You shift gears so the engine can stay below the redline and near the rpm band of its best performance.

Since the transmission does so much work in making the vehicle move smoothly from point A to point B, it does get prone to damage, especially if the driver is not so well equipped in handling stick shift. The most common trouble encountered with the transmission is when it gets stuck. Auto repair shops say this is commonly caused by worn parts. Transmission repair requires shift linkage adjustment o replacement.

Transmission repair is also required when the transmission slips between gears: This is most often caused by an internal problem in the transmission, which will need to be replaced or rebuilt. It may also be caused by problems with the computer or a sensor or the linkages. Auto repair shops say this type of repair can set you back fro $120-$380, depending on the part to be replaced.

A noisy transmission engine is also a common problem. Common noises are buzzes, clicks or clunks. These indicate internal problems, and the transmission will likely have to be rebuilt or replaced.

Pan leaks are another set of problems. A transmission can leak in several different places. If the pan on the bottom of the transmission is leaking, it is a simple matter of replacing a gasket. If the pan has become warped, you need to replace the pan and the gasket. This could mean leaving your vehicle in the auto repair shop for a day or two. If the front seal is leaking, the transmission repair staff will need to remove the whole thing from the vehicle. This seal is often called the front pump seal. When this leaks, you will notice transmission fluid dripping between the transmission and the engine. Auto repair vendors say the parts are not expensive, but the actual job is very labor intensive, as the transmission must be separated from the engine to replace the front pump seal. In this case, you should have the mechanic check the clutch and the rear main seal on the engine. The cost of this transmission repair service isn’t too high, and you’ll save the cost of having the transmission removed again should these parts fail.

A leak in the tail shop is a big problem for most auto repair shops. There is a seal in the tail shaft housing where the driveshaft enters the transmission. This is an inexpensive part and repair on rear-wheel-drive vehicles. In front-wheel-drive vehicles, there is no tail shaft housing seal. Instead, you have two axle seals, one on each side of the transmission. Because the axles must be removed, this repair is a bit more expensive than replacing a tail shaft housing seal.

Morrison’s Discount Auto Repair is the place to go for your transmission repair needs. They also provide other services like auto AC repair, brake repair, and custom exhaust installation.

When you’re driving at 70 miles per hour on the motorway, the only things holding you to the road are four pieces of rubber – your tyres. If one of those tyres were to rupture or blow, as often happens, the results could quite literally be devastating. Fortunately, it’s very easy to take care of your car’s tyres and to change a tyre on your car should the need arise. By following our simple steps, your safety can be assured.

In order to change a car tyre, you first need to jack your car up. Your car should come with a jack but these can be bought cheaply from most maintenance stores. Ensuring your ignition is off and your handbrake is on, loosen the wheel nuts slightly and place the jack under the jacking point on the underside of your car. Carefully use the jack to raise the vehicle up to a point where you can easily remove the existing tyre and have enough room to fit the new tyre to the car.

You can now begin to remove the wheel nuts which you loosened prior to jacking. You should remove the wheel nuts on the left and ride sides first and leave the top one until last. This will minimise the possibility of snapping or bending the wheel bolts. If you have a friend to help you hold the tyre whilst you remove it, this will minimize damage further. Once you’ve removed every nut, carefully remove the tyre and put it to one side.

With the help of a friend, place the new wheel onto the bolts and ensure it sits snugly. Tighten the nuts loosely and ensure the air valve is facing you. It’s vital that the tyre is the right way round or you could cause serious damage to your car. Once the tyre is sat properly on the bolts and is not likely to move out of its position, lower the jack slowly and then tighten the nuts fully once your car is rested back on the ground.

It’s easy to keep your tyres in good condition. Check your air pressure regularly (this also helps you save money on fuel). Brake smoothly and evenly in order to reduce the risk of skidding – a major cause of tyre damage. Tyre damage when parking is also common, so take extra care not to bash into kerbs or objects which may reduce the life of your tyre. With some simple care and attention, you can save money and increase the life of your tyres.

To extend the life of your automobile, you need to concentrate on five key areas. By doing so, you are insured to drive problem free and much more cost effectively for many years and hundreds of thousands of miles to come. Here’s how…

Get a Free 174 Point Automobile Inspection

Understanding the health of a car is the first step in preventative maintenance. A thorough inspection of the car is necessary to determine the current health of the vehicle. Inspections by reputable auto repair and maintenance shops should be done for FREE. The inspection should cover at least 174 check points including:

Engine

Brake System

Fuel System

Transmission

Cooling System

Air Induction System

Exhaust & Emissions

Point Ignition System

Power Steering

A/C System

Differential Check

Suspension Check

Follow a Preventative Maintenance Plan per the Manufacturers Guidelines

A good preventative maintenance plan for an automobile will periodically check an automobile at key intervals to ensure it is performing well. Higher performance means better gas mileage and fewer break downs. Preventative maintenance spots problems before they get too costly. Often a problem can be solved easily and cost effectively, but unfortunately if found too late, it will end up costing big bucks to repair.

Change the Oil Every 3,000 Miles

Your engine can’t last 200,000 – 400,000 miles if you don’t maintain it properly. An engine needs oil to lubricate it and keep it running at a healthy temperature. Keeping clean oil in your engine will ensure it will run a long time, cleanly, and much more cost effectively. You will increase your gas mileage as well by changing your oil every 3,000 miles.

Replace the Timing Belt When Called for in the Manufacturer’s Specs

The synchronization of a car’s intake valve and exhaust valve is controlled by the timing belt. A car’s timing belt plays a very important role by synchronizing the camshaft with the crankshaft. If the timing belt breaks on an interference engine, extensive mechanical damage occurs and requires the need for expensive engine repairs. In some cases, the car engine can blow up. All of this can be avoided if you have a scheduled maintenance plan with a good car repair shop, which will identify when to replace a timing belt before it becomes a very costly issue.

Ensure Proper Tire Pressure

Maintaining the proper level of tire pressure in your car does a lot. First, your tires will wear more evenly and will last much longer. Second, it will save you money in gas consumption. Properly inflated tires ensure a car burns gas much more efficiently, and it handles a lot better.

If you happen to live in Tampa, or even Odessa, Lutz, Land O’ Lakes, Wesley Chapel, New Tampa, Westchase, Carrollwood, Town & Country, Crosscreek, Meadow Brook, Brandon, Riverview or Valrico, you know how hot the weather can be sometimes. Although heating may also be necessary whenever the weather turns very cold, the use of an air conditioner is more often required. In fact, having an air conditioner is no longer a luxury but a necessity. It is, therefore, very important for you to have an air conditioning repair expert who is also a furnace repair expert in Tampa FL.

When the weather turns really cold, homes also need heating. Of course, home furnaces do break down, too, and furnace repair is another necessity. For your own convenience, it would be best if the AC repair expert you have chosen in Tampa FL is also a furnace repair expert, as well. This way, you will not have to deal with separate service contractors. You may even get a lower price if you establish a good professional relationship with your air-conditioning repair and furnace repair expert. You will discover that the better service centers actually offer heating, ventilation and air conditioning repair in Tampa FL.

Because Tampa weather is hot more often than it is cold, your air conditioning unit will be used more often. It only follows that you will also be needing air conditioning repair more often in Tampa FL. The heat and humidity makes the weather unbearable indoors, especially for very young children and elderly family members. There is always the danger of heat stroke which can be deadly for these age groups. When your air conditioner breaks down, you may not only have irritable kids or cranky senior citizens on your hands. You may well be facing a medical emergency, as well.

As is often the case, some of the best inventions were discovered accidentally. Edouard Benedictus dropped a beaker in 1903 that changed the entire production process for auto glass!

A lab assistant was careless in cleaning up a chemical laboratory and put a dirty beaker back on the shelf. In his defense, the beaker “looked” clean but had the remains of a chemical experiment still coating the inside of it. A clear liquid product, cellulose nitrate, coated the inside of the beaker used by French chemist (and artist) Edouard Benedictus. Fortunately for future car manufacturers, his assistant neglected to clean it before returning it to the shelf. As Benedictus climbed a nearby ladder, he bumped into the shelf holding the flask. The flask fell to the floor and although it was broken, surprisingly no pieces of glass were scattered on the floor; it was nearly intact.

Benedictus realized that there were many possibilities for glass that would not break into shards and realized that a new invention had been triggered by a messy assistant – the process to laminate glass. The automobile industry was still in its infancy when Benedictus was finally granted a patent in 1909, and they were hesitant to use his new invention for car windshields. However, during World War I, gas masks were produced using laminated glass for the goggles. By 1939, Henry Ford demanded that this laminated glass be used for Ford Motor Company car windshields. This was a huge advance in automobile safety.

The material accidentally used to laminate the glass was cellulose. Over the years other substrates have been used, including polyurethane and Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA). Since then, many advances have led to the discovery and use of Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB), which has become the preferred substance for the substrate used between the sheets of glass. PVB makes laminated glass clearer and stronger. The original cellulose often became discoloured as it aged. Other uses discovered for laminated glass include deadening sound and filtering ultraviolet light. Depending on the substrate, laminated glass is capable of filtering 95-99% of ultraviolet rays.

When creating “Smart Glass,” liquid-crystal or electrochromic materials like tungsten oxide and Suspended Particle Devices (SPD), a liquid with suspended rod-like particles, may be used as a substrate. Smart Glass, also called EGlass or Switchable Glass is on the cutting edge of the building industry.

High-tech buildings use Smart Glass to control the amount of light and heat that’s transmitted through the windows. The substrate is made of a conductive material so when voltage is applied, the amount of sunlight that filters through is controlled while maintaining clarity. Smart Glass helps control costs for heating, air conditioning and lighting. The drawback is the pricing for the glass, durability, installation costs and the electricity used to activate the Smart Glass.

Laminated glass has evolved from an accidental beginning to the multi-purpose product it has become, all thanks to a messy lab assistant. By far the most widely used laminated glass product is car windshields, where it has increased both safety concerns and visual clarity for the driver.

Owning a car can be a tricky business, and things don’t always run as smoothly as you might hope. This is particularly true when it comes to mileage readings on your dashboard – a flat battery could lead to your digital odometer showing incorrect data, or a new instrument might need to be adjusted to give a true reading of the miles you’ve completed. Because of these reasons and many more besides you could be in need of mileage correction services, but it’s essential that you make the right decision.

Research the area to make sure you’re getting the best service possible

As with most things in life, finding the right mileage correction services often comes down to research. You need to make sure that you’ve got a company that’s reliable, affordable and can give you just the services required, without trying to con you out of any hard-earned cash. We’ve all heard stories of people being ripped off by unscrupulous garage owners, so don’t run the same risk and always ensure you’ve thoroughly checked their credentials and reviews.

It often pays to go for a company that specialises in mileage correction, as that way you can be confident that you’re getting the right service for you. But that doesn’t mean that you can be any less stringent in your checks – again, you’ll need to check their background, experience, costs and reviews, making sure that they’ve got a good track record of success behind them. Always beware of any companies offering their services for some vastly reduced rates – if it seems to goo to be true it probably is, so don’t be tempted to go for price over quality.

So just who can I go to for mileage correction?

That’s a very valid question, as with so many different companies out there clamouring for your business it can be incredibly difficult to know which one to choose. Ultimately you need to make sure that they can deliver on their promises, but if you want to save yourself the hassle of searching why not come to us here at Mileage Correction Services?

We have all the experience necessary to give you fantastic results, and with mileage correction starting from just £50 we won’t break the bank. Our service is professional, affordable and there’ll be no trace of any alterations, and because we service all makes and models of car we’re sure we’ll be able to accommodate your every need. Why not come and see for yourself?
